We have brought together two observences this morning: the Feast of All Souls and Remembrance Day. It makes sense to combine these. Both lead us to remember those who have died, especially those who have died in obscurity, through violence or due to the lack of basic human need. Today we remember.

As we move closer to the final Sunday of the Christian calendar, before the cycle of the church year begins again, we remember those human experiences of despair, war, racism, hunger and the like. We commit ourselves to the faith of Jesus who has uncovered for us a way of living that helps us not be labelled by these experiences but gives us new names: hope and love.

While it looks like our present circumstances might dictate our future hope, we have an advocate, a friend, a helper, a companion, a risen savour who will not leave us. Instead Jesus works with us to ensure, as best as we can in this world, that no one suffers violence any more.

A service of Holy Communion to commemorate all those who stand up for justice and to pray for the end of all conflict around the world.

Please come in uniform.

All are welcome to receive bread and wine (or juice) at communion. Gluten-free wafers are available for those with sensitivities.
