Today we welcome the Venerable Bruce Morris as our guest preacher. Bruce is the Archdeacon of Deacons and has the responsibility in our church to help discern and train deacons in their vocation. We are thrilled for him to come and preach about the deaconate and its place in the Christian community.

As followers of Christ we are all called to minister to the world around us. This is part of the vow we make at our baptism and remake whenever we renew our baptismal covenant. From time to time we appoint people to do specific ministry, including priests and deacons. These individuals work in the church and the world to ensure God’s gifts are distributed equitably and regularly.

I wonder where God has placed you in God’s Great Family.

I wonder what your gifts for ministry to the world are.

Next week we are excited to hold our Orange Shirt Sunday based on the Orange Shirt Day movement (orangeshirtday.org). This is time to reflect on the experience of First Nations people in Canada and around the world and to pray and strategize for reconciliation. For more on what the Anglican Church of Canada is doing for reconciliation please visit anglican.ca/tr.

A service of Holy Communion.

All are welcome to receive bread and wine (or juice) at communion. Gluten-free wafers are available for those with sensitivities.
