Our Epic of David concludes this Sunday with his death and the beginning of his son, Solomon’s rule. This is a great story to wonder about our legacies in life and what it is that we want to pass on to the next generation. David was unable to fulfill all of his goals, but his vision of life and of God continue in Solomon, as does his humanness.
The early Church used the story of David to give meaning to the life and ministry of Jesus. Like David, Jesus’ work has not been completed. We carry his vision now. Empowered by his spirit, I wonder what we are called to pass on to those after us.
