When words feel too heavy—or not quite enough—turn to mixed-media art journaling and quiet contemplation. This creative practice offers space to honour your emotions and to listen for the Divine within. Each session includes a short meditation, a simple art technique demonstration, and unhurried time to create through layering and hands-on exploration. For those that are new, no art experience is needed & supplies will be included. For those that have taken part previously, please bring your books & supplies!
Facilitated by: Doris Froese, Ginny Sawatsky, Kathi Renaud
Doris Froese arrived at St. Dunstan’s by way of the outdoor labyrinth and has since joined Friday morning Centering Prayer, Lectio Divina & Contemplative Eucharist. Lover of quiet and inspired to see beauty among us, mixed media art journalling has been a profound awaking of the soul for Doris. Forever grateful that God pursues in intimate and specific ways.
Kathi Renaud has walked a creative journey all her life, with a long desert period that she has slowly been emerging from after finding her way to the contemplative Christian tradition. Her early years were spent learning lifelong, practical, creative skills in art school (thankfully these skills are like riding a bike). This season, she is starting to recognize The Divine in amongst her lived experience; and thus her learning has shifted to being still, dropping into the heart and joyfully playing once again. Hallelujah!
