The community is invited to gather for the 6th Annual National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on Wednesday, September 30, at 5:00 p.m. at our new location: Douglas Park Spirit Square (20550 Douglas Crescent, Langley).

The evening's program will feature Red Hawk Drummers, guest speakers, and personal stories.

An Educational Story Walk will be available starting at 4 p.m. in the park that encourage participants to deepen their understanding of Truth and Reconciliation while strengthening their ongoing commitment to this important journey.

As in previous years, the gathering will conclude with a Candlelight Walk, providing a meaningful opportunity to honour Survivors, their families, and Indigenous communities through remembrance, reflection, and solidarity.

Community members of all ages are encouraged to attend and take part in this evening of learning, remembrance, and hope as we come together to acknowledge the past, reflect on the present, and support the ongoing path toward reconciliation.

This event is presented through the collaborative efforts of community partners including the Anglican Churches in Langley, Encompass Support Services Society, Fraser Valley Regional Library,

Inclusion Langley Society, Insurance Corporation of BC (ICBC), Langley Community Services Society, Langley Hospice Society, Langley Meals on Wheels, Langley Senior Resources Society, Lower Fraser Valley Aboriginal Society, New Directions English Language School, and United Churches of Langley.

These local organizations serving the Langleys have come together to create meaningful opportunities for reflection, learning, and a shared commitment to exposing the truth about the history and legacy of residential schools while advancing reconciliation. The event honours Residential School Survivors, their families, and those who never returned.
