his Lent we will face difficult topics that are common to all human beings. Today we join Jesus as he is faced with disaster.

Whenever a disaster hits, once the dust settles and we have a chance to look around, we look for answers to our questions.

Why did this happen?

Who is to blame?

How can we ensure this does not happen again?

These natural responses are important to help us move through the grief of a sudden and disastrous event.

But if we stay with these questions too much and not ask the next questions, we stay stuck in the fear and reflex that disasters inspire.

We also must ask:

Why is my heart so downcast?

Where is the God of my life?

How can I help those affected by the disaster?

A service of Holy Communion.  All are welcome.
